Senior Chief Petty Officer Alexis Wells Chief of Propulsion Systems
Service Record
Wells enlisted in Starfleet under the engineering department. She showed promise as a great engineer from her first assignment. Eventually she gained expertise in Sovereign-class engines. Wells transferred that knowledge to the Federation Defensive Task Force working on the Dagger-class development team. Wanting to travel, she posted to her current position aboard the USS Frontier. She has been a part of the crew since the ship's first shakedown cruise, becoming on of the longest standing members of the crew. Her goal is now to enter Officer Training School with the hopes of one day being the chief engineer of a Dagger.
Personality Profile
Although she is slightly shy, Wells loves control. When a problem comes her way, she stomps on it swiftly and decisively. She is bothered easily by failure in others and failure in herself. She does not like people that she does not think are intelligent. Rather than arguing with them, however, she would just as soon ignore them altogether. People take her as someone they can trust. In addition to solving problems, there's a devilish part of her that likes to create problems, too. Once she stirs things up, she likes to sit back and watch the chaos unfold. No one would ever suspect she is the one who started it.
Wells takes her energy from the inner world of thoughts (and, sometimes, emotions). She prefers dealing with patterns and possibilities, and making decisions on a logical basis. Her life is flexible, following new insights and possibilities as they arise. She is quiet and detached, and adaptable (up to a point - sometimes she may stop adapting, insisting that there is a clear principle at stake). She is not interested in routine, and will often experiment or change things to see if they can be improved. She operates at best when solving complex problems that require the application of intellect.
For Wells the driving force in her life is to understand whatever phenomenon is the focus of her attention. She wants to make sense of the world-as a concept-and often enjoys opportunities to be creative. She is logical, analytical, and detached in her approach to the world; she naturally questions and critiques ideas and events as she strives for understanding. She often appears very flexible and adaptable in her lifestyle.
Wells' goal is to provide explanation of how and why things happen. To this end, she brings structure and organization into the inner world of ideas and understanding. She analyzes things, formulating hypotheses and explanations of how they function, and gathers evidence to assess how true those explanations are. She produces mental models that replicate how particular aspects of the world works, and she tries to understand the full complexity of any situation. In her search for explanations, it must also be noted that Wells has a simply amazing ability with numbers, being able to calculate formulae in her head faster than others can enter them in their calculators.
